Jessica Wilkerson won the Gender & History Graduate Student Paper Prize at the 2011 Berkshire Conference on the History of Women for “Where Movements Meet: Generations of Women’s Activism in the Appalachian South.” The award carries a cash prize and an invitation to submit an article based on the paper for publication in Gender & History.

This well-deserved recognition is testament not only to Jessica’s excellent work, but also to the work of the Southern Oral History Program. Jessica is recently back from the SOHP’s third research trip documenting the women’s movement in the rural and urban South. For more on that research, look here.
